The Architectural Compliance Committee performed a walk around inspection in the last week of March. Residents will be advised in writing if items were found that require repair or remediation. Residents are required to take the necessary action to correct any violations within 30 days. We all want our homes to look their best and your compliance is appreciated.
Remember, the townhomes in SMA are 20-30 years old. Please be sure to check the wood areas of your home before painting. Often if "weathered" boards are not replaced, big problems can result. Simply painting over them will not prevent problems and may just cause more! Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
Common area landscaping under way
Lighting and Drainage
The Board has contracted with Prism Engineering to perform a survey of areas where residents have reported drainage problems. The Security Committee is investigating additional lighting along Kenilworth.
Shed clean-up
If you find your storage shed has mold, mildew or is just plain dirty, you may want to try cleaning it with a cleanser (Tilex or Awesome) and then spray with a garden hose. If you do power wash, be sure to use a "gentle" setting to avoid damage to the siding.
Spring is in the air!
April and May are great months to concentrate on cleaning up the outside of your home and help beautify our community:
- Trim shrubs, pull weeds, rake leaves, remove trash and spread new mulch.
- Pick up any dog waste in your yard - no one wants a smelly yard!
- Help your neighbor or suggest someone you know that they might hire to get needed work done.
- Everyone is busy, but schedule time to get out and spend time in your outdoor spaces - sunshine is good for you!
- If spring cleaning means cleaning out, please remember DO NOT put large items or piles of junk on the street before the designated pick up day. Even better, contact ReStore to pick up items like appliances, furniture, cabinets, tools, building materials, lighting, housewares, etc. your donation benefits Habitat for Humanity. Call 757-941-4079, option 1, to schedule a pickup.
- Seasonal decor is delightful... when it's in season. when decorating the outside of your home, please be mindful to promptly change or take down any seasonal decor.
Don't forget that each quarter someone will be chosen to receive a $25 gift card to Anderson's Garden Center. In addition, the lucky winner will have a sign displayed in their beautiful yard that they are the "best in show!"
