News for May 2017

Thank you! from Architectural Compliance

A special “thank you” goes to all the residents to have been actively “sprucing up” your home.  The neighborhood has been buzzing with all the repairs and things are taking shape!  If anyone needs an extension on completing repairs, please contact a member of the Architectural Compliance Committee or a Board member. As a reminder, paint colors are to remain the same and Sherwin Williams has an official list of all SMA colors. You can also find the list on the Architectural Compliance page of this website!

Landscaping in the Neighborhood

The azaleas were awesome this Spring and they will be pruned later on this month. The neighborhood is looking good as new mulch has been placed in all common areas, weeds have been sprayed, and the grass was recently cut. Annuals should be planted shortly.

Prettiest Yard Contest - Thank you so much for all who have “beautified” your yard.  The winner for April will be announced shortly. Each quarter someone will be chosen to receive a $25 gift card to Anderson's Garden Center. Maintain and beautify your yard and the next winner could you YOU!

Our neighborhood is really looking good! It is a pleasure to walk around the neighborhood and see all the beautiful yards and the lovely flowers blooming. Mulching your yards takes so little effort, but makes a huge impact. There is still time for some of you who have not been out in your yards to get them into shape for summer. Please join the rest of us and take the time to bring your yard up to the high standard we all want for Stratford Manor by cutting back overgrown bushes, pulling weeds, and cleaning up other unsightly areas in your yards. Your continued cooperation is appreciated.

Association Dues

July dues letters will be arriving at the end of May. Dues for July – December must be mailed and postmarked by July 31stto avoid a $50.00 late fee.

Pet Policy Reminder

SMA continues to receive complaints about residents not complying with the Pet Policy.  As a neighborly reminder, when walking your pets, they should be leashed and not allowed to run loose on the property. Remember that the City of Newport News has a leash law. Pets should not be allowed to walk, urinate, or defecate on the private property of other residents. Owners should IMMEDIATELY clean up after pets’ defecating in the common area  and not allow pets to urinate on common area shrubbery. SMA has recently planted a lot of new shrubbery. Please be mindful to not let your dog damage the new plants. If you let your pet “potty” in your backyard, be a kind neighbor and clean up after your pet. With all this lovely weather, we all want to enjoy being out in our back yard and no one wants to smell foul odors. Be courteous! Thank you.

Spring Cleaning

As a helpful reminder, please do not put large items (i.e., grills, appliances, televisions, etc.) on the street for trash pickup. The ReStore offers free pick up and they are always in need of appliances, furniture, cabinets, tools, building materials, housewares, flooring, lighting and more!  Call the ReStore at 757-941-4079 – option 1 to schedule a free pick up.
